Description: One of New Zealand’s largest family-owned wine companies, Babich Wines was established in 1916 and has evolved as a major producer. Many of New Zealand's most fragrant, flavorsome wines originate in the pebbly, flat plains of the Marlborough region. Abundant sunshine and a dry autumn climate enables Marlborough-grown sauvignon blanc to benefit from a long, slow, ripening period that intensifies flavors. Marlborough is the world's leading cool climate wine region. This sauvignon blanc is distinctively citrusy and herbal, with a lime, grapefruit, and mineral character that tingles its way along the palate. The wine has a very lively and lifted bouquet combining herbal/fennel aromas with gooseberry, and melon. The palate is sweet fruited and rich with tropical fruit, and an persistent presence of fresh cut grass. The wine has good weight and a lingering yet crisp finish. This would be an ideal partner to white meat, pasta, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Try it with fettucine pasta tossed with zucchini ribbons in a light creamy sauce.
